The stars of “The Fall of the King” (Kral Kaybederse)—Halit Ergenç, Merve Dizdar, and Aslıhan Gürbüz—along with Dr. Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu, the renowned psychiatrist and author of the based-on-true-events bestselling novel on which the series is based, attended a special press conference hosted by OGM Universe at the iconic Majestic Hotel in Cannes.
“The Fall of the King,” currently airing its second season on Türkiye’s Star TV, follows the story of Kenan Baran, who, from a young age, was raised to feel like a king. From the outside looking in, Kenan is a charismatic and successful businessman who appears to have it all—wealth, prestige, and a perfect wife, Handan. Yet beneath their flawless marriage lies a painful reality. Kenan’s endless affairs have pushed Handan to the edge, forcing her to question her worth. But when one betrayal crosses the line, Handan must finally confront her past and reclaim her strength.
Blending passion, betrayal, and power struggles, this gripping drama invites viewers into a world where nothing is as it seems.
Among the many rave reviews the series has received, the recurring theme has been its captivating portrayal of the narcissistic character, Kenan, brought to life by the incomparable Halit Ergenç.
“Everybody has 1 or 2 or even more narcissistic people in their lives. Our goal with this series was to make people aware of the people around them so that they can protect their will for living,” said Ergenç, in a panel hosted by Episode Magazine’s Oben Budak.
“Many of the characteristics of the characters in this series you find in your day-to-day life,” said award-winning actress Merve Divdar in her return to Cannes. “A lot of the attributes of the series are like being on a rollercoaster, much like real life,” she added.
“In real life, and as a woman, I wouldn’t want to be a character like Kenan. I hope that women around the world watch this story and realize that they are valuable, and even with choosing to be alone, they can still be their very best selves,” said beloved actress Aslıhan Gürbüz.
Ending the night on a happier note, actors Halit Ergenç, Merve Dizdar, and Aslıhan Gürbüz joined press and buyers alike at a special party celeberation OGM Universe' success thus far.
